The Battle to Save the Last Working Watermill in Staffordshire
The Miller operating the last remaining working watermill in Staffordshire was about to lose his house close to the Mill and needed to keep an operating base close by so that he could keep it working, supporting local agriculture and the heritage of the site, stretching back over five generations locally.

The planning regulations saw any new developments in the opern countryside as tantamount to building a brand new house on 'greenfield land' and as such went against the Local Plan - adopted in 2014 - and its policies.

Taking this planning application to the planning committee of Stafford Borough Council allowed local determination of the issues and a recognition that this was a key worker's dwelling linked to supporting the local economy and agriculture.
