There was a shortage of facilities for sport and for children and young people to use in the Eccleshall area.

Eccleshall, whilst a great place to live and work - performing well in terms of employment, health, income, education and crime - featured in the top 5% of areas most deprived in the UK for access to housing and services (- according to the Office of National Statistics).

At the same stage, Eccleshall Eagles Junior Football Club was growing at 25% pa and had 200 members playing for the Club on eight sites across North and West Staffordshire - from Cotes Heath and Stone, through to Woodseaves and Gnosall including Stafford. To visit all the sites in one day would have taken a 52 mile round trip. The Club owned no facilities and played most of their matches independently of any other team.
To find a minimum of 10 acres of land to build a variety of different sized football pitches on, for the Club to establish a base and continue to invest in and develop the facilities and the Club over the long term.

At the outset we thought that this would cost @ 150k to deliver. In fact the reality was over 1m of investment over ten years from inception to actually playing on the pitches.

But we could not have delivered this sizable project without our many, many supporters, who we would like to thank.
